At Ronald McDonald House South East Queensland, we believe in the power of community to help families stay together during some of life’s most challenging moments. An inspiring example of this is our long-standing relationship with St Laurence’s College. Through their ongoing support and unwavering commitment to volunteering, their students and teachers are helping create a home away from home for families when they need it most.
St Laurence’s College students are deeply embedded in our volunteer community, attending both Herston House and South Brisbane House regularly as part of their Certificate II in Volunteering. Their hands-on support touches almost every corner of our Houses, ensuring families feel cared for and supported each day.
Their impact includes:
Beyond this, Xavier House students play a special role in supporting our Kids Club, visiting regularly to host activities, play games and connect with children staying in the House. Kids Club creates moments of joy, laughter, and a sense of normalcy during what can be incredibly challenging times.
St Laurence’s College continues to show incredible generosity through fundraising and in-kind support – extending their impact even further.
Their contribution includes:
There is something incredibly powerful about young people stepping forward to lead with kindness. The students of St Laurence’s College truly embody a future where community, empathy and action go hand in hand.

“Our partnership with Ronald McDonald House South East Queensland continues to have a profound impact on our school community. It provides our students and staff with meaningful opportunities to actively live out the values of service, compassion and community in a very real and tangible way.
Through this partnership, our students and staff gain firsthand insight into the importance of supporting families during some of life’s most challenging moments. Engaging with the Houses, meeting families and visitors, and witnessing the incredible care and support provided each day is both humbling and inspiring. This connection continues to foster empathy, gratitude and servant leadership within our community, while strengthening the relationship between our school and the wider community.
We are incredibly proud to support Ronald McDonald House South East Queensland and deeply value the positive impact this partnership continues to have on our students, staff and the families connected to the organisation.”
