The power of partnership

A powerful example of corporate partnership in action – turning passion into meaningful community impact.

Just before Christmas, families and staff from Ronald McDonald House South East Queensland were treated to a truly unforgettable day at Lakeside Raceway. Long-time supporter David Schramm, together with major sponsor Multispares opened the track for a special Sponsors’ Day filled with excitement, connection and heartfelt moments.

For David, motorsport isn’t just a hobby; it’s a lifelong passion. After years leading the traffic management company Schramm Group, he made the bold decision earlier this year to sell the business and pour his energy into racing. Now the proud owner of four race cars and fresh from competing at Bathurst, David was eager to share the thrill of the track with the community he cares deeply about.

A partnership built on purpose

David’s connection to the charity began in 2018 through a partnership with Transurban, where he was a key stakeholder. What started as a collaboration quickly grew into a meaningful, long‑term relationship. Along with his wife, Adele – who matches his generosity and passion – David has become one of RMHC SEQ’s most dedicated advocates.

Over the years, David has:

  • Funded over12 months of accommodation
  • Sponsored Ronald McDonald House South East Queensland signature events
  • Hosted fundraising initiatives, including a corporate golf day
  • Created magical Riverfire moments, securing the South Brisbane House rooftop with a substantial winning bid and inviting families staying at the House to enjoy the show

His commitment has created meaningful, joyful experiences for families navigating some of their toughest days.

An unforgettable experience

At the raceway, guests had the rare opportunity to experience the thrill of motorsport up close, including riding in David’s brand-new 1977 Torana – a car he was eager to test on the track. The first-ever passengers? ThFarlow family from Rockhampton. Having spent countless days in the NICU, the family cherished the chance to step away and enjoy something uplifting together.

From start to finish the whole day was great. We loved the fact that donors offer these kinds of gifts to families and their children. It was nice to be able to swap a day of sterile hospital wards for the race trackSince the race car experience, Jack has already said he wants to get Cai into go-karting so he can enjoy the same kind of excitement we did while he was in hospital and unable to join us. – Heidi (mum)

Events like these remind us of the incredible generosity within our community. Thank you to David and his wife Adele, for opening your hearts and creating such a memorable day for our families. Your passion and kindness make a world of difference.
